Assistant Controller
Description

We are looking for an Assistant Controller to assist in overseeing the daily activities in the accounting department under the supervision of the Controller. You will be responsible for identifying discrepancies as well as maintaining control systems, costing systems and general accounting functions.

An effective assistant controller requires hands on knowledge of accounting principles. You must be organized with a great eye for detail. You must be reliable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively. The goal is to contribute to keeping the accounting and financial processes of the company up to standards and ensure accurate financial reporting and controls.

Responsibilities

Support most aspects of accounting management (monthly account reconciliations, accurate and complete month-end close, analysis, billing, AR/AP, tax forms, inventory management, financial reporting, costing etc.)

Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies.

Manage AP process, processing invoices, and reconcile accounts for payments and month end reconciliation.

Quarterly and annual payroll processing and tax filings with ADP payroll provider.

Banking/cash management/reconciliation processes.

Planning (forecasting) and budgeting processes.

Review and reconcile expense reports and participate in preparation for the annual audit.

Help in the development of reports for management

Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances

Utilize SAP to facilitate processes and maintain records

Manufacturing Cost Accounting for the organization to ensure all cost accounting/inventory and SAP routings are up to date.

Documenting accounting policies and collaboration with all departments on accounting process improvements/upgrades

Assist Controller with a variety of tasks as needed.

Requirements

Proven experience as an Assistant Controller or similar position

3 - 5 years is preferable at a CPA Firm with knowledge of manufacturing annual review and/or audit.

Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), financial statements and tax regulations

Working knowledge of SAP

Well-organized with ability to prioritize

Very good communication and interpersonal skills

Attention to detail and problem-solving ability

BS/BA in accounting, finance, or relevant

Professional certification CPA
